Since the midterm elections are nigh upon us, our November issue begins with a rundown of Election Day procedures, and an introduction (or re-introduction) of the elected officials and volunteers who make the election process run so smoothly in our town.
The library will be showcasing technological offerings at its Open House on November 5. Townspeople are encouraged to bring in their devices and learn how to access exciting services from home. In addition, Family Movie Night is returning along with Holiday Open Mic Night.

The Recycling Center is adding a category to the plastics it accepts: clean, dry, stretchable plastic bags and film. The Swap Shop is wrapping up its season on November 12, and shop volunteers urge Dubliners to check out the offerings before the doors close till spring.
Dublin’s ConVal School Board representative, Alan Edelkind, urges townspeople to attend a forum on November 10 (in person or via livestream), which will focus on building renovations, the strategic plan, and important upcoming events. At Dublin Consolidated School, new principal Shawne Hilliard describes a busy start to the school year. In other school news, Dublin Christian Academy’s homecoming celebration draws alumni from far and wide, and a newly renovated gathering space for students is unveiled.
The Conservation Commission’s “chipping party” at Dublin Rotary Park turned forest debris into woodchips to enhance the trails in the park. The Dublin Women’s Community Club is selling Dublin-themed blankets just in time for the holidays. Town office assistant Pamela Cox urges residents to get involved in Dublin’s boards and committees.
The arts are thriving in town, both at the DubHub and at DublinArts & Muse Gallery: art shows and concerts are planned at both venues. Harvey Tolman, Cape Breton fiddle legend, accompanied by Lloyd Carr on the piano, will perform at DublinArts on November 5. In addition, a new kids yoga class is starting up at the DubHub, and the annual Small Treasures fundraiser occurs on the first weekend of December.
Monadnock Family Services has appointed two Dublin residents, Chris Sprague and Lisa Foote, as new trustees. Supporting people with substance use disorders was the focus of the Grand Monadnock Rotary Club’s recent Walk for Recovery.
We learn about Ben Franklin’s favorite bird, the wild turkey, which is clearly thriving in the Monadnock region, and also hear about a surprising encounter with a protective broad-winged hawk.
