By Tim Clark —

It’s been a spectacular freshman year at ConVal High School for Dublin’s Genna Weidner. She appeared in all three of ConVal Drama’s four productions, which is remarkable for a ninth-grader.

Her debut was as one of the witches in last fall’s Macbeth. Then she played a professor in Wit, which won the State Drama Festival in April. Finally, she capped off her big year as a triple threat in Little Women: The Musical last month, serving as assistant director and co-stage manager; she also played the Hag in the show’s big production number, “The Weekly Volcano Press.”

When asked if all this rehearsing and performing cut into her study time, she confessed that she is currently ranked number one in the class of 2015.

Genna has no plans to slow down next year, either. She has also agreed to become the co-editor of the ConVal Current, the school newspaper, in the fall.

Tim Clark retires from teaching at ConVal this month. He recently was awarded the Marlin Fitzwater Medallion for Public Communication by Franklin Pierce University.
