March brings spring, daylight savings time, town elections, school district voting, town meeting, a variety of religious celebrations, and Women’s History Month! This month’s Advocate is chock full of local news about all this and more.

Read the statements contributed by Dubliners running for town offices on Tuesday, March 12, and a brief summary of the warrant articles that will be brought before the voters at Town Meeting on Saturday, March 16. There are important votes on the ConVal School District budget and Articles of Agreement, as well as a proposed Pay as You Throw program at the Recycling Center, so take the time to understand these issues before you vote!

A Dublin Educational Action Committee has been formed to look at options for educating our students in the future. Meanwhile, Dublin Consolidated School is looking for kindergartners for the upcoming school year, and encourages visitors to check out their instruction and activities after calling the school office.

Spring cleaning is happening at the Dublin Public Library, with “deep weeding” of outdated or damaged books on the shelves. A few forgotten treasures have come to light and are receiving the love they deserve.

Another of Dublin’s treasures is highlighted in the March issue – nationally known artist Aimee Lamb, longtime resident who studied and worked in Dublin throughout much of her long life. You can also read about newlyweds and newcomers to Dublin, Lou and Chris Pacelli, and their dog Spuds. Yankee Publishing welcomes Carol Connaire as the new editor of the Old Farmer’s Almanac.

The DubHub offers its regular lineup of classes and gatherings, and some special events as well. This month’s art show features Monadnock area artist Caleb Massin, with a reception on March 8. Local Irish duo, The FitzMurphys, will anchor the monthly open mic night on March 16. And a community pancake breakfast on Saturday, March 23, will feature New Hampshire maple syrup and blueberries. (For a historic demonstration of traditional maple sugaring, don’t miss the workshop at the Monadnock Center for History and Culture on March 9.)

The River Center, MAXT, the Harris Center, and the Walden School have opportunities for learning and connecting for all ages. PLEASE NOTE the March 1 date for camp registration and Walden School applications!

The Conservation Commission reports on efforts to preserve healthy forests through the development of blight resistant trees. Finally, be aware that the town is completing a property reevaluation in 2024, which may affect property taxes by the end of the year.
